Digital creations in the public space
The call for projects “Digital creations in public spaces” is intended for national and international artists to produce an original artwork using or questioning digital practices that are thought and written for the public space.
Artists are invited to submit projects that fit into one of the following typologies:
any creation in the form of shows, performances and hybrid interventions in public spaces, in collaboration with our historical partner Lieux Publics.
installation projects, lighting installations, mapping, augmented reality tours, etc., in collaboration with our partners the Constellations Festival in Metz and La Fête des Lumières in Lyon.
The winning artworks of this call for projects will be presented as part of the opening of the Biennial of Digital Imaginaries and on partner events, particularly the Fête des Lumières in December 2026.
This call for projects is open until Sunday June 15, 5pm.
The jury will meet in early September 2025 to decide on the applications, and we will conduct interviews with artists during September 2025, before announcing the selected projects in October 2025.
Conditions to apply :
- Propose an original artwork conceived and written for the public space. The work should not only be presented in the public space, but should also propose a reflection on the context in which it takes place.
- Propose an original artwork using or questioning digital practices.
- To benefit from a structure that supports production and provides follow-up. It is understood here that projects that are not managed by a structure that provides production and follow-up will not be selected.
- If the project is selected for the Fête des Lumières, the technical set-up must be handled by the project team, with a public space technical manager.
- The work must be ready for presentation at the Biennale, starting in mid-October 2026.
- Particular attention to the project’s eco-responsibility will be part of the selection criteria. Read our charters
Works in different forms are eligible, such as:
- Hybrid show, performance and intervention
- Immersive, interactive installation
- Light creation
- Video mapping
- Augmented reality tour
- Sound creation
The contributions of the platform :
- Financial support: The amount of financial support will be decided on the basis of the budget presented by the line producer. This contribution includes the transfer of the work for its distribution, and the artist’s mobilization for set-up and dismantling time if necessary.
- Artistic, technical and logistical support: Support during the writing and production phases on technical and logistical aspects, connecting with specialized technicians, contributing and sharing aesthetic and scenographic resources.

- Presentation during the biennial and assistance with help in touring in our regional, national and international networks following the biennial. Selected works will be shown during the opening weekend of the Biennial of Digital Imaginaries.
