Fabien Léaustic

In the heart of this deconsecrated chapel, once dedicated to Christian dogma, Fabien Léaustic reimagines the figure of the fallen angel and draws an analogy with environmental history. Since time immemorial, the themes of ascent and fall have permeated human mythology, as exemplified by Icarus, who brought about his own downfall by overstepping boundaries. The artist conceives of these narratives as illustrations of our dysfunctional relationships with the world. He draws inspiration from them to translate the looming collapse of civilization into sculpture and imagery. By invoking animal flesh on the same level as earthly flesh, the exhibition navigates freely between creationist beliefs and scientific truths.
