CYCLE

NOHLAB

Mapping

For the first time, Hexalab invites the artists of Nohlab for an unprecedented audiovisual creation projected on the newly renovated facade of the Church of Madeleine, in the heart of downtown Aix-en-Provence.

As an international studio of interdisciplinary creation around art, design and technology, Nohlab have already presented their work at ISEA, Signal, OFFF, TedX, Vivid, Sonar Istanbul and World Government Summit, and received awards from Culturespaces, ARS Electronica and Japan Media Arts Festival.

This new show, called CYCLE, is a four-part audiovisual experience inspired in particular by the combinatorial game theory invented by John Horton Conway’s Game of Life theory, the theory of primordial particle systems, emergent life systems, simple structures building complex ones, as well as biotechnology and synthetic evolution.  Exploring the theme of eternity, CYCLE incorporates the repeating behavioral patterns of things, and shows us how they are essential to continue the cycle of existence.

An astonishing visual spectacle, which takes us to the origins of creation and the reproduction of cells, from the infinitely small to the infinitely large and to the borders of space and time.
